The Song of the Forest
After successfully delivering the first message for the resistance, you step out of Caelan’s hideout. The air in Greenwood Hollow feels heavier now—alive somehow, as if the forest itself is waiting for your next move. Caelan whispers something to Tinker, and the drone buzzes over to join you. Apparently, she’ll be accompanying you from now on. You can’t help but wonder whether Bastet deliberately picks such quirky companions.
As you venture deeper into the woods, Tinker scanning the area with her usual enthusiasm, a melody drifts through the trees. It’s crooked—almost silly—and yet oddly familiar. Eventually, you reach a clearing, where a massive tree towers above you, its branches stretching into the sky like arms. At the base of the tree sits Willow Reed, lute in hand, singing—or trying to.
“Hey there!” Willow calls out, waving at you.“ I was just working on a new song about the resistance, but this fine gentleman here…” He taps the tree lightly with the back of his hand. “…has a fondness for quotes and strange text fragments. Keeps interrupting me.” “Greetings, traveler,” booms the tree, in a voice so deep you feel it resonate in your bones. “I am Sylvandor, guardian of the wisdom of Greenwood Hollow. Your journey leads you through the words that shape the world. See how they are constructed—and learn to wield their power.”
Willow gives you a conspiratorial grin. “He’s sort of a quote machine carved into bark, but I think he likes you. If you solve his challenges, maybe he’ll share some inspiration for the resistance.” Tinker hums approvingly as Sylvandor lifts a gnarled branch—either to point the way forward… or to test you.
