A Signal from the Silence
The Scroll of Mystical Voices was a triumph, and Libris bid you farewell with a satisfied nod. “Carry the power of words with you—but remember: they only work when they’re heard.” With those words, she opened a hidden door that led you deeper into Greenwood Hollow.
Your path takes you to an abandoned communications outpost, surrounded by ancient relics of lost technology. Tinker hums softly—almost nervously—as she draws your attention to a rickety table and a dust-covered device. In front of you stands a strange contraption—a mix between a telephone and a desk lamp—its age rivaled only by the thick coat of dust covering it. “It’s old, but it still works,” Tinker beeps, projecting a hologram of Bastet’s symbol.
Beside the symbol appears a code:
Phone: +1 55 5-99 99 99
Tinker chirps excitedly. “A sign of life from Bastet! The signal is weak, but we can establish a connection.”With another chirp, she enhances the hologram and shows you a simple message:
“Connect the devices. The links are our lifeline.”
Your hands tremble slightly as you begin the first attempt.
Every piece of this apparatus could bring you closer to Bastet—or spell the end of all hope.
“Links are more than just connections,” Tinker murmurs. “They’re lifelines. Bridges between us—and her.”
As you work, you uncover old anchor points and hidden links to seemingly irrelevant data. One button reads: “Download the plans”, but Tinker buzzes a warning. “Not everything that glitters is gold,” she chirps. Still—you can’t shake the feeling that something important may be hidden there.
Suddenly, a soft crackle comes from the device.
It could be Bastet.
Or just an echo.
Your breath catches as you click the next link—and for a moment, the world holds its breath with you.
